We are excited to share an important update; WildWood Mountain Dulcimers is transitioning from custom orders to a ready-to-buy model featuring instruments and fretboards from our available stock.
You will still find the beautiful, familiar woods you know and love along with one-of-kind dulcimers and fretboards crafted from rare, hard to find woods. This change will allow us to reduce long wait times and get WildWood Mountain Dulcimers and FretPlay fretboards into your hands more quickly and efficiently.
At this time we are focused on completing our current custom orders, so we are no longer accepting custom orders in the previous format. Thank you for your patience as we build our ready-to-buy inventory. We promise we are not going anywhere- we are simply excited to keep bringing you unique creations in a better, faster way.
Everything you love about our instruments will remain the same. The design will continue to feature our fully interchangeable fretboards allowing you to switch from classic diatonic to chromatic, baritone and bass in seconds- all on the same beautiful instrument.

The benefits of Fret Play:
Options; Gives you the player the option of playing standard, baritone, bass and chromatic all on one dulcimer.
Versatility in Tuning; Switch fretboards easily to access different tunings (e.g. DAD, DAA or Chromatic) without retuning, enabling quick adaption to various genres; folk, bluegrass, classical, jazz or good ole rock n’ roll.
Lower initial cost; Our single dulcimer body with interchangeable fretboards cost significantly less than multiple full dulcimers, saving you hundreds, and in some cases thousands, of dollars.
Convenience; Offers the option of just playing the fret board to practice at work on a break, in the park or wherever your favorite practice place is. Being smaller than the dulcimer, its more convenient to travel with.
